Youth Assimilation and Rejection of Postcolonial Attitudes

Rather than adopt a postcolonial attitude, of rejecting the need to conform to nationalist symbols and rhetoric, youths argued that their enrichment education – and spelling bees in particular – affirmed their adoption of American norms.
